The Beach 1, Beach 2, Yieders Run Inlet, and Issac Creek Inlet 6/30/2010 test results were all “well within” the recreational criteria for E.coli counts. Lake Holiday is one of the cleanest lakes in the State of Virginia. It is also a dynamic natural body of water, which is constantly changing. There are many explanations as to what will cause localized spikes in Fecal Coli form and E. coli bacteria counts. Significant rainfall runoff, high water temperatures, number of bathers, or if there are waterfowl in the area can change water quality from good to poor within hours.

The 6/23 water quality test results for Beach 1, Beach 2, Yieders Run Inlet, and Issac Creek Inlet all were all good (within the recreational criteria for E.coli counts).

Beach 1, Beach 2, Yieders Run Inlet, and Issac Creek Inlet 6/16/2010 test results were all “well within” the recreational criteria for E.coli counts. Lake Holiday is one of the cleanest lakes in the State of Virginia. It is also a dynamic natural body of water, which is constantly changing. There are many explanations as to what will cause localized spikes in Fecal Coli form and E. coli bacteria counts. The 6/09 water quality test results for Beach 1, Beach 2, Yieders Run Inlet, and Issac Creek Inlet all were all good (within the recreational criteria for E.coli counts). Yieders Run Inlet reflected an increase in E.coli counts from last week’s tests but did not exceed the maximum tolerance level for recreational contact. We attribute this increase to heavy rainfall runoff.

The 6/02 water quality test results for Beach 1, Beach 2, Yieders Run Inlet, and Issac Creek Inlet all were all good (within the recreational criteria for E.coli counts). Beach 1 reflected an increase in E.coli counts from last week’s tests but did not exceed the maximum tolerance level for recreational contact.
NOTE: To minimize potential health risks that may affect beach water quality Lake Holiday takes weekly water quality tests. The test results reflect that Lake Holiday is one of the cleanest lakes in the State of Virginia. Even though it is a clean lake, it is a dynamic natural body of water that is constantly changing. There are many explanations as to what will cause localized spikes in Fecal Coli form and E. coli bacteria counts. Significant rainfall runoff, high water temperatures or waterfowl can change water quality from good to poor within a short time. At crowded beaches water quality may also be impacted by bathers themselves.
